Scope and Contents Miss Liebenthal, herself an able violinist, was best known for the lunch hour concerts she ran in the National Gallery of Scotland, from the Second World War until her death in 1970. She was particularly interested in introducing younger musicians to the public, and many of the players and singers she brought to Edinburgh went on to make distinguished careers.
